The Ancestral Paradigms of Excellence Series:
King Sneferu

As part of the continuing series topic entitled, Ancestral
Paradigms of Excellence
, Kemetic Legacy Today
Co-host discuss their quest to uncover the ancient
genius, King Sneferu during their 2010 sojourn to Egypt.

Only those who are extremely versed in Kemetic history
are familiar with the name of King Sneferu.  Ironically,
He is probably one of Kemet's most important rulers.
The founder of Kemet's fourth dynasty (around 2613 -
2589), King Sneferu was the successor of King Huni,
the powerful final king of the third dynasty.  Huni was
tprobably a noble in the court of King Djoser, builder of
the world's first mrkhut (pyramid).  He seemed to have
been inspired by King Djoser's Step Mrkhut.

It is believed that Sneferu was either Huni's son or step
son.  In order to pay tribute to his successor, Sneferu
probably completed Huni's Mrkhut (pyramid).  Sneferu
them embarks on an amazing scientific and engineering
quest to build the first true flat-sided mrkhut. Kemet
Legacy Today Co-host Jabari Osaze goes "off the
beaten path" in Egypt as he and Anika visit each of
King Sneferu's 3 mrkhuti as he follows the magnificent
signature of this great African ancestor.  It is only
through the dogged determination of King Sneferu that
his son, King Khufu is able to build the Great Mrkhut on
the Giza Plateau.

The Ankh Ceremony
The Priestess and Priesthood Ascension of Anika
and Jabari Osaze

This very special episode of Kemetic Legacy Today
features the Ankh Ceremony of Co-Hosts Anika and
Jabari Osaze.  The Ankh Ceremony includes the
conferring of the carrying ankhs signifying the position
of Priest and Priestess--Abu and Abut (the "Purifier").
After practising Kemetic spirituality for 14 years, the
divine couple has achieved this important position.

The Ankh Ceremony is officiated by Heru Ankh Ra
Semajh Se Ptah, known as "The Ankh Man" or Baaba
Heru, the Chief Priest of the Shrine of Ptah.  Baaba Heru
has served as spiritual father for the couple since their
initiation into the Shrine in 1998.  The conferment of the
title officially mandates the creation by the Osazes of the
Shrine of Ma'at.  The ceremony also features the ritual
purification of the space by the Abutu-in-training
(Priestesses), anointment, and the Defense of the Ankh
(questions from the guests).  The event was held at the
National Black Theatre in Harlem.

all the way to the United States Supreme Court.

"Ancient Kemet: Birthplace of Medicine"
A Lecture by Jabari Osaze

While many Africans worldwide are still scrambling for
the means of basic sustenance, western nations are
benefiting for a health care system which has pushed
life expectancy to all-time highs.  For example, the
United States enjoys roughly 2.3 doctors per capita
(1,000 people) while Africa's most populous, Nigeria,
has simply 0.28 doctors per capita. This painful reality
combined with the fact that most doctors recite the
Hippocratic Oath upon the graduating medical school
would give one the impression that the field of medicine
is alien to the continent of Africa.

Kemetic Legacy Today Co-host, Jabari Osaze,
provides us with a provocative lecture on the African
origins of the medicine in Ancient Kemet.  Virtually all
ancient nations reveled at Kemet's scientific proficiency
as it gave health and wellness to the world.  Kemet
boasts the world's oldest texts on medicine, the first
recorded instance of sick days and medical insurance,
and even the first specialized physicians.  Brother
Osaze describes the scientific and spiritual fusion that
created the Kemetic medicine in an engaging powerful
discussion.

"The Maxims of Ptah Hotep, Part 2"
A Discussion with Co-Hosts Anika and Jabari Osaze

Ptah Hotep was an influential official during the Old
Kingdom who probably served the 5th Dynasty King
Djedkare Iessi.  It seems that Ptah Hotep might have
actually been considered to become King, but instead
served as important noble and scribe.  He authors his
"Maxims" for his "spiritual son" at the advanced age of
110 years old.  The work becomes one of the major
texts of Ancient Kemet's Sebayt genre of moral
guidance literature.

Kemetic Legacy Today Co-Host Anika and Jabari Osaze
continue with the second part of this engaging 5-part
series on the Maxims.  Each of the instructions are
surprisingly relevant nearly 5,000 years later.  Its
notable topics include learning to interact with powerful
individuals, choosing the right mate, and dealing with
people who are disagreeable. This series is crucial for
anyone seeking to like a divine life.

"The Maxims of Ptah Hotep, Part 1"
A Discussion with Co-Hosts Anika and Jabari Osaze

While simply a few generations ago, it was illegal for
enslaved Africans to read, it is amazing that world's
oldest complete book was created by an African.
Generally called the "Maxims of Ptah Hotep", the
important text contains 47 instructions on how to live a
"Ma'atical" life.

Ptah Hotep was an influential official during the Old
Kingdom who probably served the 5th Dynasty King
Djedkare Iessi.  It seems that Ptah Hotep might have
actually been considered to become King, but instead

begin an engaging 5-part series on the Maxims.  Each
of the instructions are surprisingly relevant nearly 5,000
years later.  Its notable topics include learning to

"Ancestral Paradigms of Excellence:  Who was
Imhotep?" A Lecture by Jabari Osaze

When an average teenager is asked if they are familiar
with the name "Imhotep", they will probably either
connect him with the villain in the popular "Mummy"
movie series or state that they aren't familiar with him
at all.

The name of Imhotep has been truly maligned.  One
can only wonder if an important ancestor from another
continent or ethnic group could be similarly maligned.
In fact as Kemetic Legacy Today Co-Host, Jabari
Osaze explains in his engaging lecture, most historic
individuals of European descent are recognized for
their accomplishments (sometimes only perceived
accomplishments).  Some of these "vaunted" European
individuals are known murderers, pedophiles, rapists
and racists however they are looked upon with great
reverence.  Brother Osaze corrects the record
regarding Imhotep -- one of the earliest doctors,
architects, poets, and the first multi-genius of record.
Viewers will also learn how important Imhotep's
contributions are to our contemporary society.
